New Book Uncovers the Mystery of the Invisible Trait

This trait may be difficult to see. If everyone in a large group of people all had the Invisible Trait they would still be uniquely different individuals. Additionally, this trait is not very well known. Up to 30% of the population are born with the Invisible Trait yet most don’t even know it exists. This unawareness includes the medical community, parents, teachers, counselors and others. Yet individuals with this trait are more likely to seek professional counseling. Many go through life feeling different, overwhelmed, more emotionally or physically affected by situations and struggle with other issues, typically without understanding why. You can discover, through this book, if you were born with the Invisible Trait.

“Our whole life is solving puzzles. If you are curious, you’ll find the puzzles around you. If you are determined, you will solve them.”

About the Authors

This book came together as a labor of love, from Dr. Shelly Rice and Stephanie Simonton, to help those with this unique trait. Stephanie could see quickly when she met Shelly that her positive and effective approach to counseling after 20 years of experience was invaluable, especially to those with this trait. Stephanie’s many years of working with youth and those who have struggled helped her see the need and urgency for this information and approach to be available to everyone. All that is written in this book is for those who possess this trait and those who are yet to discover it within themselves. As the authors, our greatest desire is for individuals to find great help, comfort and peace as they uncover what the Invisible Trait is through reading this book.

Dr. Shelly Rice and Stephanie Simonton are not taking any new clients or booking any events or engagements at this time. (We both have the Invisible Trait so we have to be careful about overscheduling our time. Thank you for understanding.)

Were you born with the Invisible Trait?

Living with this trait can sometimes feel like being on a roller coaster ride! Sometimes it’s great and other times you really want to get off!

Because no two individuals with the Invisible Trait are the same, it is difficult to test for it in a traditional way and it is not a medical diagnosis. Below are some commonalities. However, individuals with this trait MAY NOT RELATE WITH ALL of these. Teens especially typically feel invincible and may not recognize they actually feel this way unless it comes up in conversation. Also, when considering the answers to these questions, think back to your childhood and how you felt then in addition to how you feel now.

Have you experienced or felt some of these?

  • Have you ever felt like you have a sixth sense?
  • Like you can read a room or understand what others may be thinking or feeling even if no words have been spoken?
  • Do you intuitively have a sense of an individual’s personality?
  • Do you ever feel like you are just a little bit different from others?
  • Do you often feel overwhelmed, stressed or worn out without fully understanding why?
  • Do you get frustrated with yourself for not being able to handle more?
  • Can bright lights, chaotic environments or noisy crowded places bother you?
  • Do certain textures, fabrics or tight clothing irritate you or cause you to feel uncomfortable?
  • Do you find great peace when you are in nature or when you view beautiful art?
  • Do you find it tough to deal with judgment, criticism, rejection and/or contention?
  • Do you deeply or intensely at times feel emotions such as sadness, fear, anger, joy, or love?
  • Do you sometimes bottle up or react to strong emotions?
  • Do you have a desire to please or care for others sometimes to the detriment of your own needs?
  • Do you struggle to see your value, feel inadequate, second guess things you have said or done, or have negative expectations of yourself? In other words, do you tend to be hardest on yourself?
  • Do you tend to be a rule follower?
  • Do you hate getting in trouble and avoid it?
  • Do songs, movies, tv shows, commercials, or news deeply affect your emotions positively and/or negatively?
  • Is kindness to others and from others important to you?
  • Do you get a bit “hangry” when you go without food for awhile?
  • Is it difficult for you to handle change? Do you need extra time to adapt?
  • Do you need quiet and calm time to yourself to recover after being in crowded, loud or busy types of environments?

IF YOU RESONATE WITH SOME of these, it may be time to take a deeper look into the Invisible Trait.
